Current Status

Since 2000, the government has actively promoted wind power development and application. Through resource exploration, technical guidance, research survey, demonstration subsidy as well as propaganda and promotion, preliminary results have been achieved. In addition, TPC and private enterprises were driven to successively put efforts into the development of onshore wind energy. As of the end of January of 2016, statistics showed that 28 onshore wind farms have been established, among which 28 wind farms have achieved a total installed capacity of 637.2 MW for a total of 321 wind turbines. In addition, preliminary planning of offshore wind farms also was proposed in succession. It is expected to complete development and establishment of the first domestic offshore wind farm in 2015. Development of shallow water wind farm is expected to be completed in 2020 with installed capacity of 600 MW (about 120 wind turbines).
